According to recent media reports here in Jamaica, Access Financial Services Ltd., a micro-lending, small business & personal loans company, may become one of the first companies to be listed on the recently launched Jamaica Junior Stock Exchange. Launched in April 2009, the Junior Stock Exchange is designed to raise capital for companies with a J$50 million to J$500 million capital base.

Since its launch however, the Junior Stock Exchange is still to have even a single listing, but Jamaica Stock Exchange officials now say it is to have its first listing next month. Access Financial Services CEO Marcus James was quoted in the media recently saying he does intend to pursue a listing on the Junior exchange in order to access liquidity, broaden the company’s shareholder base, and benefit from the market’s attractive tax incentives. He did not however specify a time line for the listing.
