The Students’ Loan Bureau (SLB) advises that applications open on February 13 for new and returning students for the academic year 2012/13 (commencing September 2012).

Returning students must submit Status Report Form online, and are encouraged to utilize the Bill Express payment option in order to eliminate the need to visit the SLB office.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, through the Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) is rolling out a $500 million line of credit to support Jamaican farmers. The funds are being made accessible through the Peoples’ Cooperative (PC) banks, at an interest rate of 7%.

Providing an update on the agriculture sector at a press conference recently, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Robert Montague, assured continued support for the production of crops that can be grown competitively. He highlighted that one aspect of this thrust is the provision of funding to farmers at concessionary rates, and linking them with markets.
